Candle Care 101
We know you adore your candles, but proper care is crucial to keep your candles burning beautifully. So, grab your wine glass or mug of coffee and get up to speed on candle maintenance.
1. Trim those wicks, hun.
Before you light it up, trim that wick to 1/4" like you trim your split ends. This keeps your candle burning slow and steady, maximizing its lifespan. Toss the trimmings and keep your glass clean, queen!
2. Wiggle that wick.
After your candle cools down, give the wick a gentle nudge back to its original spot. Wicks tend to wander, causing potential hazards. Keep it centered for optimal burn time and safety.
3. Don't burn out your candle (or yourself).
We know you're obsessed, but limit burn sessions to 4 hours max. Overdoing it can cause overheating and wick drama – and nobody wants that! Blow it out, let the wax solidify, trim, and relight for another sesh.
4. Safety is sexy
Place your candles on heat-resistant surfaces, away from anything flammable and never leave them unattended.
5. Let go, gorgeous: The 1/2" wax rule
When your wax hits the 1/2" mark, it's time to part ways and order a new candle. Industry safety standards insist on retiring candles at this point so consider it your cue to pop out the remaining wax, clean out your vessel and either return for a refill (check in our store for refillable, recycled-glass vessels eligible for refills) or reuse for other purposes (the recycled vessels make fabulous drinking glasses!).
And there you have it – your guide to candle care. Follow these tips to keep your candles burning safely and your home smelling fabulous.
