About Verbivore Candles

What's with the name, Verbivore? 

Well, I stumbled upon the term one day when I found myself on a website that showcased beautiful, uncommon words that capture emotions and experiences iin their essence.

A lot of these words are made-up but, really, you can say that about a lot of words in the world of languages. 

My first love (other than animals and scent) is writing. I've been enchanted with the written word since I could spell. 

I regard these uncommon words as a beautiful pairing with scent memory. Scent has to be the most powerful of our senses in the way it can instantly transport one to a moment in time and steep us in the emotion specific memories our brain associates with scent - be it a past love, a particular summer, the cigar our grandfather smoked on Sundays.

As you will see, I have fun naming each candle in the Verbivore line-up. I take the scent notes of each and pair them with words that sum up of the essence of scent-memory.

Launched in June of 2024, Verbivore is still a brand-new candle company. And running a small business is something that is very new to me. 

My mission is to remain dedicated to discovering and implementing even more eco-friendly practices and sourcing human/animal/and earth-friendly ingredients and materials to create candles & other personal fragrance products that not only smell and look beautiful but make you AND your spaces feel beautiful. 

I hope Verbivore will be around for a long time to come. I hope this company can be a place either of my daughters can work within, if they so choose, and learn valuable skills within a safe, inclusive and uplifting environment.
